Shiqi Lin is an Associate Professor at School of Humanities and Social Science, Fuzhou University, China. In this paper, she focuses on the relationship between childhood socio-economic status and depressive symptoms in later life and whether parenting styles can help explain this relationship.

Theophilos Rifiotis is a Full Professor on the Graduate Programme in Social Anthropology at both the Federal University of Santa Catarina and the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. He has also taught at the Université de Montréal, the Universidad de Buenos Aires and several other universities in Brazil. He is a researcher at the Centre de Recherches Appliquées et Interdisciplinaires sur les Violences Intimes at the Université Laval. He coordinates the Laboratory for the Study of Violence and the Cyberanthropology Research Group.

Dr. Levan Atanelov, MD, is a board-certified physiatrist and the Medical Director of the Steady Strides Fall Prevention and Stroke Rehabilitation Medical Institute in Baltimore, MD. He trained in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he later served as Assistant Professor and Assistant Residency Program Director.  Dr. Atanelov’s clinical and research interests center on clinical interventions to reduce falls in community dwelling older adults, community-based fall prevention interventions, optimizing rehabilitation interventions and medical quality improvement and safety. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, led quality-improvement initiatives across inpatient and outpatient settings and edited The Resident’s Handbook of Medical Quality and Safety (Springer), a widely used academic resource for training physicians in quality improvement and patient safety.  Dr. Atanelov developed the Steady Strides physiatrist-led fall-reduction protocol, the first structured intervention shown to significantly reduce falls in high-risk community-dwelling older adults. His work emphasizes interdisciplinary, value-based rehabilitation and the integration of functional assessment into modern geriatric care. Dr. Atanelov is currently managing in-house residency programs for Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapist Assistants, Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants, advancing post-graduate clinical training across rehabilitation disciplines.

He has led multiple provincial research projects, published several SCI indexed papers, and holds patents in geriatric care. His current research focuses on anti-aging mechanisms, healthy aging, and tropical geriatric medicine.  

Angela Marie Abbatecola, MD, PhD specialist in geriatric medicine and internationally recognized for her work in geriatric medicine. Dr Akanu Abass Obasi is a Consultant Physician and Geriatrician and a Clinical Research Fellow at the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom. He holds a Master’s degree in Public Health, a Master’s degree in Diabetes, and a Master’s degree in Falls, Osteoporosis Management and DXA Reporting for Clinicians. His research focuses on ageing and rehabilitation, with a particular interest in improving health outcomes for older adults. Dr Obasi has published in several international journals and is currently pursuing a PhD in Ageing and Rehabilitation at the University of Nottingham. He is an active member of the British Geriatrics Society.

Jiaqi Sun is a PhD researcher at the University of Melbourne, based at the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health. Her research focuses on the molecular and systems mechanisms underlying Alzheimer’s disease, with particular interest in mitochondrial dysfunction, neuroinflammation, and brain–immune interactions across disease progression. Using transgenic mouse models, proteomics, and integrative bioinformatics approaches, her work aims to uncover early biological drivers of cognitive decline and identify region-specific pathological pathways. Her research bridges neurobiology, systems neuroscience, and translational biomarker discovery.

Dr. Mary Priyanka Udumula is an Assistant Professor (Research) at Michigan State University in collaboration with Henry Ford Health. Her research focuses on aging, cancer immunology, and immunometabolism, with particular emphasis on how aging-associated metabolic rewiring alters immune cell function within the tumor microenvironment. Her work investigates mechanisms driving T cell dysfunction, immune suppression, and therapeutic resistance in ovarian cancer, integrating approaches in metabolism, epigenetics, and tumor immunology to identify novel strategies for restoring durable antitumor immunity in aging-associated cancers.

Carmelo Mesa-Lago is a Distinguished Service Professor Emeritus of Economics at the University of Pittsburgh; a visiting professor/ researcher in 8 countries and a lecturer in 39 countries. Author of 95 books and 320 articles/chapters published in 9 languages in 34 countries, most of them on social security; his most recent book is Re-reform of Privatized Pension Systems in the World (Max Planck Institute of Social Law and Policy, 2012), Evaluation of Four Decades of Pension Privatization in Latin America (1980-2020): Promises and Reality (Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, 2021) and Efectos de Capitalization Individual en America Latina (CEPAL, 2022) and Comparative Economic Models of Cuba and China-Vietnam: Social Goals and Financial Sustainability (submitted to Oxford University Press, November 2022). He has been a consultant in all Latin American countries and in 8 others in Africa, Asia and the Caribbean for ILO, ISSA, ECLAC and other U.N. branches, most international financial organizations, and foundations. Member US National Academy of Social Insurance, Latin America Academy of Science and the Board of International Social Security Review. Awards: ILO International Prize on Decent Work (shared with Nelson Mandela),  Alexander von Humboldt Stiftung Senior Prize, 3 Senior Fulbrights, homage for his life work on social security from the IOSS and CISS, and 78 other honors and research grants. Finalist in Spain’s Prince of Asturias Prize on Social Sciences, 2014 and 2015; selected among 50 most influential Iberoamerican intellectuals in 2014.
